Virtual Events
SETAC Cafés are informal virtual events for environmental professionals to engage in discussions pertinent to the mission of SETAC and its membership (e.g., panels about career paths). Cafés are typically one hour long. SETAC staff provides videoconferencing technology and publicizes the events. Cafés are planned in collaboration with staff according to the virtual event planning schedule.
SETAC Virtual Group Meetings are virtual informal meetings that could include topical presentations, planned entirely by group leadership for explorer and full members. Group leaders are encouraged to utilize the SETAC Zoom line. Leaders are encouraged to publicize the event to group members on their group page. Due to limited staff resources, these meetings are not managed by SETAC staff (i.e., staff is not responsible for scheduling the meeting, publicizing the meetings, administering registration, managing the technology, recording or uploading video recordings, etc.).
SETAC Virtual Symposia are formal topical presentations by professionals for an audience of their peers, delivered for the exchange of information and training on a specific and timely environmental issue. Virtual Symposia are typically two to four hours long. SETAC staff support these types of events by coordinating proposal review, collaborating with the organizers and the presenters, managing videoconferencing technology, publicizing the event, administering registration, preparing formal communications (e.g., agendas) if needed, and communicating with registrants. Webinars are planned in collaboration with staff according to the virtual event planning schedule.
SETAC Webinars are formal plenary-level, topical presentations by professionals for an audience of their peers. Webinars are typically one to 1.5 hour long and follow a formal traditional presentation style, followed by a question-and-answer session. SETAC staff support webinars by coordinating proposal and presentation review, collaborating with the organizers and presenters, managing videoconferencing technology, publicizing the event, administering registration, and posting of the video recordings. Webinars are planned in collaboration with staff according to the virtual event planning schedule.
