Find Mentorship Opportunities

Many SETAC members are excited and very willing to share their insight with those seeking career guidance. Volunteering as mentors allows members to share knowledge and expertise while also gaining valuable insights and guidance as mentees, where both mentors and mentees foster mutual growth and development.

SETAC Global Meetings typically have several opportunities for members to connect with experienced professionals for career advice such as the practically ubiquitous student-mentor dinner, exploring career choices seminar, and new-comer mixers. There are also lots of opportunities to connect with mentors at SETAC Regional Chapter and Branch Events. Look for those opportunities at registration!

Outside meetings, explorer and full members can also volunteer to be mentors or look to identify mentors for themselves online.

Fostering the mentor-mentee relationship

Regardless of how they get connected, when a mentor and a mentee decide to work together for an extended time towards a specific goal (e.g., acquiring a special skill), the mentoring handbook can provide some basic guidance to help guide a mentor–mentee relationship to achieve mutually agreed upon goals, in a mutually agreed upon time frame.
