Apply for the Position of SETAC-Nominated IBERA Council Member
The International Board of Environmental Risk Assessors (IBERA) was established by the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC) as an independent organization. Its purpose is to certify environmental risk assessors based on excellence standards. This certification ensures that those who meet these standards are committed to honoring the profession, are fully capable of evaluating environmental risks associated with chemical substances, and act with dignity, respect, and wisdom.
IBERA is a registered not-for-profit association located in Brussels, Belgium. It is managed by an international board of 18 directors (the Council), which aims for balanced representation across government, business, and academia, while also including other stakeholder groups. Three of the directors must be members of SETAC and are nominated by SETAC. One of the current SETAC-nominated council members will complete their term on 24 February.
SETAC is now soliciting applications for the position of SETAC-nominated IBERA Council member.
The ideal candidate meets the following qualifications:
- Competencies:
- finance
- business management
- Knowledge domains
- environmental risk assessment
- fate and exposure
- Experience
- SETAC member in good standing
- membership of SETAC management boards or steering committees
- examination and certification procedures
- Availability
- prepared to invest approx. 1 day per month of volunteer time
- 3-year term, renewable once

The selected candidate will be presented to SETAC World Council on 19 February and then nominated by SETAC to the IBERA General Assembly for appointment as SETAC-nominated IBERA board member.
