Join the SETAC Europe Council
The SETAC Europe Council is responsible for guiding the Geographic Unit’s (GU) strategic direction and ensuring effective planning and monitoring of programs, financial oversight and legal, ethical and fiduciary integrity of the Society. Each year, new council members are elected at the Annual General Assembly, and this year, we have eight open positions.
To maintain a balanced representation across sectors, we are seeking 2–4 new members per sector from business, government, academia or civil society. Additionally, full student and recent graduate members with at least three years of professional experience and active involvement in SETAC are encouraged to apply.
Working in the SETAC Europe Council allows you to shape the future of the Society within a dynamic, international and highly motivated team of professionals and volunteers.
Apply by 27 March and take an active role in SETAC Europe’s leadership!
Visit the website for more details about the council, the position or the procedure.
Volunteer for a SETAC Europe Committee
If you’re looking for a more specialized way to contribute to SETAC Europe, consider volunteering for a committee.
SETAC Europe committees provide essential guidance and support to the SETAC Europe Council, each focusing on a specific area of expertise. These committees play a vital role in shaping SETAC Europe’s activities, including advancing scientific programs, promoting inclusivity and strengthening the GU’s financial strategies.
We are searching for passionate professional, student and recent graduate members who are eager to contribute their expertise and help guide SETAC Europe in science, education, diversity and inclusion, awards, branches, and financial matters.
Explore our standing committees and their responsibilities to find the best fit for you and consider volunteering. If you’re interested in joining a committee, please email [email protected] by 22 May 2025, including the following information:
- The committee you’d like to join
- Your interest and motivation
- Your relevant experience
We look forward to welcoming new members and collaboratively shape the future of SETAC Europe.
Join the SETAC Europe Student Advisory Council (SAC)
If you are a student or recent graduate passionate about becoming actively involved in the SETAC student community and helping to organize its activities, we invite you to join SAC!
As a SAC member, you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with students and early career scientists across Europe and beyond, gain hands-on experience in organizing events like the YES Meeting, and develop valuable skills in teamwork, leadership and communication. You'll play a key role in ensuring that students have a strong voice within SETAC Europe and contribute to making events more engaging and student-friendly—all while being part of a vibrant, fun and supportive community.
SAC members typically dedicate around five hours per month to activities, with a slightly higher time commitment before major meetings. Those in leadership roles, such as chair, vice-chair, or local organising committee for the YES Meeting, may take on additional responsibilities.
Please apply through the online form by 17:00 CEST on Tuesday, 13 May. To qualify, you must be a full SETAC student member. No prior SAC or event organization knowledge is needed—just enthusiasm and a willingness to contribute.
New SAC members will be elected at the Student Annual General Assembly, held on the Wednesday, 14 May, during the SETAC Europe 35th Annual Meeting in Vienna.
Don’t miss this chance to get involved, expand your network, and help shape the future of the SETAC Europe student community.
